The signing of Lazios new signing Zlatans Ibrahimovic from Juventus is “in the plans” and “in a good state”, president Adriano Galliani has said.
Lazio have already signed Juventus defender Antonio Rudiger from Real Madrid for around €50m, and have also been linked with a move for Manchester City defender James Milner.
Ibrahimovic, who has scored 22 goals in 44 Serie A games this season, has also been touted by Juventus coach Massimiliano Allegri as one of the best players in the world.
The 31-year-old will make his Lazio debut in Saturday’s 1-1 draw against Palermo at the Stadio Olimpico in his new home after joining from Juventus in a £19m deal in the summer.
Galliani said: “Zlatan has been on the radar for a while now and I have been asking the question every day since he joined us.
I think we will be very pleased with the player and the team we have signed.”
Ibrahimi has scored in six of his past eight games and his 12 goals in 22 appearances are the joint-most by a Lazio player since Gianluigi Buffon’s 12 in a season in the 1950s.
“Zlatani has been a key part of the team since he came in.
The signing is in the works and in a good condition.
It’s very important that we get the right player for this challenge.”
Zlatans first Serie A start came in a 1-0 win over Inter Milan in November 2014.
He has scored 13 goals in 37 appearances in all competitions this season and is one of a handful of Italians to score in more than half a dozen Serie A matches this season.
